The Central Library of NIT Agartala is inviting applications for the role of Library Professional Trainee. This position is designed for recent postgraduates in Library and Information Science (LIS) who are dynamic, tech-savvy, and motivated. Candidates should have obtained their degree from recognized Indian universities.

Duration:
The traineeship is initially for 12 months from the joining date. Depending on performance and the institute’s needs, it may be extended for another 12 months, but not beyond a total of two years. The traineeship can be terminated with one month’s notice by either side. Trainees are eligible for up to 30 days of leave per year, with a maximum of 7 consecutive days at a time.
Essential Qualifications:
Candidates must have a First Division in their Master’s in Library and Information Science (MLISc) or an equivalent degree from a recognized Indian university, with their degree obtained in 2024 or 2023. Candidates expecting their results can also apply, provided they present proof of passing with First Division at the time of the written exam and interview. Those who completed their MLIS before 2023 are not eligible.
Required Skills:
Applicants must be proficient in Computer Applications and Library Management/Digital Library Software.
Responsibilities:
Trainees will be involved in all library-related tasks, including night shifts. They are required to work six days a week, with rotational holiday shifts.

- Nature of Internship: This internship is strictly temporary and is for a period of 12 months only.
- Eligibility: The internship is open to eligible candidates from all castes and categories.
- Institute’s Rights: The Institute reserves the right to fill or not fill the internship positions, or to cancel the advertisement entirely or partially without providing any reason. The Institute also reserves the right to limit the number of candidates called for the test/interview. The decision of the Institute in this regard is final.
- No Correspondence: No correspondence will be entertained regarding the conduct or result of the written test and interview, nor the reasons for not being called for the same.
- No TA/DA: No Travel Allowance/Dearness Allowance will be provided for attending the written test and interview.
- Temporary Arrangement: This internship is purely a temporary arrangement, and participating in the test/interview and being selected does not entitle the candidate to any claims on regular employment at NIT Agartala.
- No Regular Position Claims: Selected candidates will not have any claim to regular positions or privileges such as housing, medical facilities, or other benefits available to regular employees of the Institute.
- Experience Certificate: A certificate of experience will be issued to those who complete at least 12 months of the internship training.
