Rajasthan Staff Selection Board, Jaipur has released the notification for recruitment for Librarian Grade III Post of 548 Post with Notification No.: 18/2024, Date: 11.12.2024. Applications are invited for the positions of Librarian Grade III under the Secondary Education Department and Sanskrit Education Department. The recruitment will follow the guidelines of the Rajasthan Educational Services (Subordinate) Act, 2021 and the Rajasthan Sanskrit Education Services Act, 2015.

Key Notes

  1. After being selected for the post, candidates may be transferred between the Secondary Education Department and the Sanskrit Education Department based on organizational requirements.
  2. Priority will be given to candidates based on merit-cum-priority rules.
  3. The application process must be completed online.

Application Procedure

  • Candidates must apply online via the Rajasthan government’s official recruitment portal: https://rsmssb.rajasthan.gov.in.
  • Applicants should first log in to the SSO portal at https://sso.rajasthan.gov.in using their Citizen Apps (G2C).
  • Candidates are required to complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process before submitting their application.

Online Application Fees and Process:

  • One-Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory.
  • Last date for fee submission: March 5, 2025, to April 3, 2025.

Rajasthan Librarian Exam Date: Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be held on July 27, 2025. A normalization process will apply.

No Objection Certificate (NOC): Government employees must submit NOC with their application.

Rajasthan Librarian Grade III Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Scheme and syllabus of competitive examination for the post of Librarian Grade-III:

  • The examination shall carry 400 marks.
  • There will be two papers. Both papers shall be of 200 marks each.

Paper-I:

  1. The question paper will carry a maximum of 200 marks.
  2. Duration of the question paper will be 2:00 hours.
  3. The question paper will carry 100 questions of multiple choice.
  4. Negative marking shall be applicable in the evaluation of answers. For every wrong answer, one-third of the marks prescribed for that particular question shall be deducted.

Explanation: Wrong answer shall mean an incorrect answer or multiple answers.

5. The minimum qualifying marks shall be 40%. Provided that the percentage fixed as above shall be relaxed by 5% for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
6. Paper shall include the following subjects:
(i) Geographical, Historical, Cultural, and General Knowledge of Rajasthan.
(ii) Current Affairs of Rajasthan.
(iii) General Knowledge of World and India.
(iv) Educational Psychology.

Syllabus and Scope of Papers:
The syllabus and scope of the paper for the examination will be as prescribed by the Commission / Rajasthan Staff Selection Board/Appointing Authority, as the case may be from time to time and will be intimated to the candidates within the stipulated time in the manner as the Commission / Rajasthan Staff Selection Board/Appointing Authority, as the case may be, deems fit.

Paper-II

  1. The question paper will carry a maximum of 200 marks.
  2. Duration of the question paper will be 2 hours.
  3. The question paper will carry 100 multiple-choice questions.

  • Structure and Attributes.
  • Modes of formation of subjects.
  • Different types of subjects.
  • Universe of subjects as mapped in different schemes of classification.

II. Bibliographic description:

  • Catalog purpose, structure, and types, physical forms including OPAC filling rules.
  • Normative principles of cataloging.
  • Overview of principles of practice in document description.
  • Current trends in standardization, description, and exchange.
  • Standard code of cataloging.

III. Methods of knowledge organization:

  • General theory of library classification.
  • Normative principles of classification and their applications.
  • Species of library classification.
  • Standard schemes of classification and their features: CC, DDC, UDC.
  • Notation: Need, functions, characteristics.
  • Design and development of Schemes of library classification, Standard subdivision index, Trends in library classification.

IV. Subject Classification

  • Principles of subject classification.
  • Subject heading lists and their features.

Syllabus and Scope of Papers:
The syllabus and scope of papers for the examination will be as prescribed by the Commission/Rajasthan Staff Selection Board/Appointing Authority, as the case may be from time to time and will be intimated to the candidates within the stipulated time in the manner as the Commission/Rajasthan Staff Selection Board/Appointing Authority, as the case may be, deems fit.

  1. Each question has five options marked as A, B, C, D, E. You have to darken only one circle (bubble) indicating the correct answer on the Answer Sheet using a BLUE BALLPOINT PEN.
  2. It is mandatory to fill only one of the options for each question.
  3. If you are not attempting a question, you have to darken the circle ‘E’. If none of the five circles is darkened, one-third (1/3) of the marks of that question shall be deducted.
  4. After solving the question paper, candidates must ascertain that they have darkened one of the circles (bubbles) for each question. Extra time of 10 minutes beyond the scheduled time is provided for this purpose.
  5. If a candidate does not follow these instructions, their answers may be rejected.
