The week honors a tradition initiated by Shri I.V. Ramayya, celebrated as the “Architect of the Public Library Movement in India.”

Throughout the week, libraries across India organize events like book fairs, exhibitions, competitions for children and adults, and programs to promote reading habits and library use. This year’s activities aim to emphasize the transformative role of libraries in society under themes like “Wake Up and Read” in various regions
